Lessons for a learning health system: Effectively communicating to patients about research with their health information and biospecimens

This mixed-methods study examines how communication materials shape patient understanding and perceptions of health data and biospecimen sharing. While the type of intervention had little impact, patients strongly preferred transparent communication from their health system, underscoring the importance of trust, consent, and patient-centered policies in supporting Learning Health Systems.
